The saving of Australia.

The saving of Australia.

On this Australia day, when so many see it just an excuse to party and accommodate copious quantities of alcohol, it is worth remembering why Australia is still free and such a great place to be. Apologies for the poor quality of the picture – it is of a plaque in kings Park Botanical Gardens delineating the kind of terrain that the famous Kokoda track is full of. The act of bravery in this one episode did much more than most people around the world perceive. It saved Australia, and marked the beginning of the end of the myth of Japanese invincibility.
